Facial wrinkles are a result of the natural aging process, part of getting older. Our skin loses its ability to repair itself as the underlying elastin and collagen fibers break down. Heredity, UV exposure, and repetitive facial movement can all contribute to the development of facial wrinkles and folds.
ArteFill is the first and only FDA-approved non-resorbable wrinkle filler for the correction of smile lines. Unlike other facial fillers, ArteFill lasts.
ArteFill® contains PMMA microspheres and purified bovine collagen gel with an anesthetic for comfort during injection. ArteFill is a dual-acting injectable wrinkle filler that provides immediate and long lasting results.
First, ArteFill visibly corrects the wrinkle. The microspheres then provide the permanent support your skin needs for enduring wrinkle correction.
Before your initial treatment with ArteFill, a skin test must be administered 4 weeks prior to screen for an allergy to bovine collagen.
Where the results of temporary fillers end, the enduring benefits of ArteFill® continue.
If you have previously used temporary dermal fillers such as hyaluronic acid, collagen and fat, then you know they are eventually absorbed by the body and require frequent repeat injections to maintain correction.
ArteFill is different. The unique microspheres in ArteFill are not absorbed by the body and provide the permanent support your skin needs for long-lasting wrinkle correction. You can now get the lasting wrinkle correction you want in just one or two ArteFill treatments.
ArteFill® answers the growing demand for a safe and permanent injectable wrinkle filler for the correction of smile lines.
Depending on the depth of their wrinkles and folds, most people get the results they want with one or two treatments.
With ArteFill Progressive Enhancement™ (gradual wrinkle correction), you and your doctor can tailor a treatment program to meet your individual needs. This personalized approach helps to ensure you get the results you desire.
ArteFill® is indicated for the correction of facial wrinkles known as nasolabial folds or smile lines. Some people should not receive ArteFill, including those who have a positive reaction to the ArteFill collagen skin test; have a history of severe allergies manifested by a history of anaphylaxis, or history or presence of multiple severe allergies; are allergic to the anesthetic (lidocaine); have a history of allergies to any bovine collagen products; are undergoing or planning to undergo desensitization injections to meat products; are prone to thick scar formation and/or excessive scarring.
As with any injectable wrinkle filler, you can expect mild swelling and reddening at the treatment site. These side effects are usually gone within 24 hours. If you are taking aspirin or anti-inflammatory drugs you may experience increased bruising or bleeding at the injection sites. Patients with any skin outbreaks (e.g. cysts, pimples, rashes, hives, infection) near the injection site should postpone treatment until they clear. The safety and effectiveness of ArteFill beyond one year have not been established.
