As aging takes effect on the skin, there is a noticeable change to firmness and texture, with the gradual appearance of facial wrinkles and folds. This is the result of collagen and elastin breakdown, as well as the loss of fat. Heredity, UV exposure, and repetitive facial movement can all contribute to the development of facial wrinkles and folds.

Dysport®

Dysport is a simple, effective, non-surgical treatment that works by relaxing facial muscles on the forehead, thereby reducing and smoothing away frown-lines and wrinkles. Like Botox, Dysport is administered via an injection at the site of forehead wrinkles, leaving surrounding muscles unaffected. Upon injection, the muscles are paralyzed, rendering new wrinkle formation in the treated areas impossible.

Xeomin®

Xeomin is latest injectable botulinium type A injectable to join Botox and Dysport in the temporary improvement of forehead wrinkles, frown lines, and crow’s feet. Xeomin is FDA approved and has been used in Europe since 2008.

Botox

Botox can be injected to relax facial muscles, and is most beneficial for the treatment of lines caused by overactive muscles of the forehead and cheeks. It is not a wrinkle remover; it can only work on expression lines that are controlled by muscles and targets only specific muscles that have been injected, leaving the surrounding muscles to work normally. It is an ideal treatment for frown lines, forehead furrows, and “crow’s feet.” Botox® can also be injected to reverse the downward turn of the mouth.
The effects can last approximately three months depending on the individual. Clinical trials have shown that over time the duration of the effect increases, resulting in less treatments being needed to maintain the result.

Fat Transfer

One of the natural processes of aging is thinning of the dermal layer of the skin. This loss of fat is what leads to sagging, wrinkled skin. Fat transfer is a solution that can help fill in those areas of loss, to restore skin to a more youthful, rejuvenated appearance. During treatment, fat is removed from one area of your body, such as the stomach, and then injected into another area of your body, such as the face. Fat transfer is commonly used to fill the lips, cheeks, chin, and bags under the eyes. It even helps to increase blood circulation by transferring a small concentration of stem cells. When performed properly, a large percentage of the injected fat cells will survive and remain permanently. Upon request, Byrd Aesthetics will freeze and store vials of patient’s own fat. If the patients need additional filler added, their own sample will remain available for 6-8 months.

Juvederm

Juvederm® is a smooth-consistency injectable gel that replaces the hyaluronic acid your skin has lost, restoring volume and smoothing away facial wrinkles and folds. Juvederm is the only hyaluronic acid filler that is FDA approved to last up to a year. It is injected into the mid to deep dermis to fill moderate to severe facial folds and wrinkles, such as the nasolabial lines that extend from the corner of the mouth to the nose. Radiesse

Radiesse® is a patented, injectable, soft tissue filler that is approved for use in cosmetic dermatology. Radiesse is used to fill moderate to severe facial folds and wrinkles, such as the nasolabial folds that extend from the corner of the mouth to the nose, and the melolabial folds that extend from the corner of the mouth to the chin. It can be used in the mid-cheek area to correct creases or depressions. Radiesse contains no plastic, animal, or foreign proteins. Once injected, Radiesse will remain for approximately one year in the tissue. It is then slowly and safely absorbed by the body.

Restylane

Sculptra®

Sculptra® is a synthetic injectable filler designed for cosmetic enhancement of facial fat loss. Sculptra contains poly-L-lactic acid, a material that is safely absorbed by the body.
